Caring Voice Coalition is a national charitable organization established in 2003 to provide financial, insurance education and personal support to individuals diagnosed with specific chronic or life-threatening diseases. CVC seeks to empower these patients by providing comprehensive programs delivered through a holistic approach by a staff of knowledgeable, dedicated and caring individuals.
ElderFriends is a volunteer-based friendly visitation program that provides companionship, outreach, and advocacy. By facilitating monthly friendly visits, we strive to meet the emotional needs of isolated elders, helping them to age-in-place, in their own homes, for as long as possible. We not only connect elders with volunteers, we re-connect them to their community. At the same time, our program provides volunteers with the opportunity to share their time with elders, enhancing their own pursuit for successful aging.

Meals on Wheels is a volunteer-driven organization founded 41 years ago based on the service ideal of “neighbor helping neighbor.” More than 2,500 volunteers help execute the organization’s mission to provide balanced, nutritious, and appealing meals to seniors and people with disabilities. We strive to improve the physical and mental health of those served by providing, either directly or through cooperation with other community service organizations, a range of services that improve quality of life. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday, between 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Senior Connections, The Capital Area Agency on Aging offers a comprehensive range of Home and Community-Based Services for seniors age 55 and older, caregivers and persons with disabilities in the City of Richmond and the Counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, and Powhatan. Senior Connections is dedicated to helping seniors maintain quality of life and independence as they age. We place special emphasis on helping the frail and disadvantaged elderly who may be socially isolated and physically or economically at risk.

Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Gerontology, founded in 1976, became a part of the School of Allied Health Professions at Virginia Commonwealth University in January 1985. The department is well-known for the quality and innovation of its programs and for the scholarship and applied expertise of its faculty. The Department of Gerontology offers a variety of degree programs based on an interdisciplinary approach using the bio-psycho-social model.
Virginia Commonwealth University Division of Geriatric Medicine is committed to providing superior, compassionate and innovative clinical care to patients using state-of-the-art knowledge and resources; educating the physicians and health-care professionals of tomorrow, the physicians and health-care professionals of today and the community-at-large; and conducting and disseminating cutting-edge biomedical research and scholarship. Nearly 30 clinical staff members (physicians and nurse practitioners) are diligently engaged in advancing this mission daily, on the Medical College of Virginia and Hunter Holmes McGuire VAMC campuses.
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts serves as the regional liaison for the Museum of Modern Art’s Alzheimer’s Project and has launched ArtLinks, a group tour program for facilities that serve individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. ArtLinks tours offer a supportive and enriching experience in a gallery setting. VMFA Educators “link” the act of looking at art to participants’ experiences by encouraging opinions, discussion, and positive interaction.
Virginia Voice is a non-profit radio reading service for those who are unable to read for themselves because of vision impairment or other disability. Virginia Voice broadcasts daily an organized program of readings of current printed material, including newspapers, magazines, books, and publications of various organizations.
The YMCA of Greater Richmond offers the Growing Younger program which provides access to wellness activities that include physical fitness classes aimed at improving cardiovascular health and muscular strength. The program provides cognitive stimulation and social experiences that range from informal interaction to card games and lectures with the goal of promoting healthy aging and reducing isolationism.
